Owner Michael Havens has been in the wine business since 1983, first as a winemaker & principal of his own brand, exporting with California American Terroirs since the 1990s.  Prior to that he had an academic career, including faculty stints at UCLA and UC Davis.  He continues to make select wines while operating California American Terroirs (CAT). In January, 2020, we entered into a partnership with  Amicus Wine Holdings of Napa.  This opportunity brings many new resources to our work as wine ambassadors to the world.  Amicus invests in multiple parts of the wine business and has already begun to help us in many ways, beginning with the building out of a new CRM.

Among those added resources is our new Director of Sales, Dan Buckler. Dan moved to San Francisco in 2005 and spent the next fifteen years in local, regional, and international wine sales. Dan joined CAT to carry on a legacy of excellent service spanning nearly 40 years and he is excited to be working with dozens of prestigious wineries and importer partners in 29 countries.
